Hi all; Since I was a small child I've been mystified by the legends of the Sasquatch or Big Foot. From numerous TV documentaries I believe the central areas of the Pacific Northwest is where the concentration of sighting has been over the years.
This is my destination for my Westy travels this spring-hopefully while the mating season is in full swing and tracking in soft soil would promise the best results.
I pretty well have a list of destinations and with Google Maps I have scoped out a number of logging roads and backwoods areas to explore.
I have a number of questions for you Oregon/Washington residents regarding what to take or what to expect.
1-if the Sasquatch is a cannibal, and I sleep with the hatch open, should I sleep with my head or my feet at the door? Also which side of the bed should I sleep on?
2-will escence of pepermint, kept in the van, repel them?
3-I always travel with my pet pigmy goat for a fresh milk source-do Sasquatch eat goats or be attracted to the smell of milk.
4- will my fresh herb garden in the galley window attract the herbivore type Big Foot?
5- I've read on Wikapedia that the natural enemy of Sasquatch is the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus. Are they still spawning in the waters of Olympic National Forest?
Thanks in advance, Westfailure |

| After years of living in close proximity to humans due to habitat loss and encroaching development, the Sasquatch has in many cases altered its appearance and often resembles a rather scruffy outsized human. In fact, Olympia, Bellingham, and Marblemount are all good places to meet one these days. In general VW camper vans and old pickup trucks do not appear to scare them, but also do not seem to be provoking aggressive responses. |

| At may times, Sasquach has a difficult time dressing DOWN to natural Olympian standards! I think I went out with his sister once! |

My daughter is addicted to that Finding Bigfoot show. The odd thing to me is, they go to all of these great places where Bigfoots (Bigfeet?) as well as Vanagons are known to tread, namely Alaska, PNW, Utah, Colorado, North Carolina... Coincidence?
I always watch with her to see if I can spot any Westies in these beautiful and remote locations; conversely, I am surprised to have not spotted any Sasquatches in the "Vanagons in the Wilderness" thread. :D |

Perhaps you should check in with the BSA

First and foremost, if you do encounter the creature be sure to take a moment to get a clear picture of it!

Feet. Head should always be facing away from a door when sleeping; if you should be attacked while in bed, you'll be easier to kill if your head is facing the door. |

| If you want to attract them, I understand they have a weakness for Kokanee, Rainier and possibly Olympia beer. |

Feet first, Sasquatch brings his own Buffalo wings sauce. Which side?, Depends on whether HE wants to be the big spoon or the little spoon.

He prefers Wintergreen
westfailed wrote: 3-I always travel with my pet pigmy goat for a fresh milk source-do Sasquatch eat goats or be attracted to the smell of milk.
Sasquatch is lactose intolerant. Gives him gas. Accounts for the smell. Don't encourage him. Your neighbors will thank you.
westfailed wrote: 4- will my fresh herb garden in the galley window attract the herbivore type Big Foot? Depends on what "herb" your growing.

PNW Tree Octopus is a fairy tale. Don't believe everything people tell you

| If you are looking to mate with one, you could not pick a better vehicle to attract one than a bay window bus sporting a couple hippy stickers. Those sasquatch like their mating partners to be hairy and musky. |

I would be way more worried about goat trauma than I would the Sasquatch - you should read up on Goat Trauma and be aware of the warning signs:

These pictures are even more concerning to me:
