[on soap box]

I'm going to see good friends and look for bargains. My car isn't together so i'm riding "B!TCH" in my friend's 65 Splity.

Even if I was driving my car, I don't get judged. First off let others that want a trophy, get them. Secondly there's not many people that can appreciate all the little details I have in the car. I'm sure it's the same for your car and honestly, the only one that needs to be please with your car is yourself.

Running a show is a thankless task and if it wasn't for those that actually do it, we wouldn't have shows to go to.

So thats to say you owned your vw for nothing else except to win trophies? Not merely because you loved your vw or you were proud of it but because it was a beauty queen and because of poor judging and you losing you booted her? I could care less about trophies, I enjoy showing off my car but more importantly I enjoy driving it and owning it and that quite honestly is the ONLY reason I own my VW's.

Have we met? :?

Do you know me? :|

Have you ever read anything I've posted here? :?:

Have we ever hoisted a beer? :?

Yeah, thought not. =;

Your ability to infer a person's motivations from a dozen sentences is really remarkable! Do you do parties? =D>

Let's get together at Etown and discuss this personally, since you've presumed to take a really rude swipe at someone you've never had two words with. Perhaps I'll tell you about the rest of what's going on in my life, which I don't necessarily air publically and had much more to do with the sale of my beloved 1302S to a collector than a $3.59 plastic trophy. Maybe that will satisfy you.

Because your satisfaction and approval means everything to me.

M

Wow!, I wasnt being rude or a dick before, but you sure are! And because of that I will be now.

Sorry if my comment came across as rude, I was merely pointing out what your comment came across as and it was this " I got sick of the judging, and this show and that show finally made me say fuck it and I sold off my car" thats how you came across and it seems as foolish as the ridiculous judging at some shows that you mentioned. The point I was making is who gives a crap about judging or trophies? Just enjoy your VW, show it off and have a good time and let the crazies fight over their trophies. So, get your panties out of a wad, read my comment again and you'll see that I wasnt being a dick, I was saying "WTF, you let bad judging make you sell your VW why not just enjoy it for what it is and if you manage to win a trophy thats great" And that was from the info you provided ( you know that part about have I read anything you"ve posted), now it comes to light that there were other reasons which you failed to mention before and rather made it seem that judging was the only reason you moved on. Quote: On a different note: I quit going to Etown for two years because I was simply sick of the judging
Quote: After Dubs on the Boards following Etown, I decided that I was done showing and sold. Now I only go for swap and some of the folks I know.

What is ANYONE supposed to make of those remarks besides what you stated?

You want to put me down for not knowing you and make nasty little comments from assumptions? Every wise ass remark you made towards me you can redirect right back at yourself because your just as guilty and you dont know me either.

(Although Dubs on the Boards in Wildwood really takes the cake: A Bay bus and a convertible enter the sedan class, and take first and second place. My gawsh that was a badly run show.)

The toughest judging I ever had was at Litchfield: those folks run a tight ship. Winners of class are held to the standards of the class: stock/custom/etc. Pimp out your ride and enter it in a stock class, you'll be told to either compete in custom class, or withdraw your entry from judging.

As one of the judges at this show I appreciate the feedback and even though you opted to sell you car I am glad to hear that you are still coming for the swap. If you could PM me some specifics regarding the situation you described it would be helpful in order for us to address it within our club and make sure that if folks are being classed improperly we can resolve the situation. That being said, we're looking forward to a great Spring opener and hope to see you all there. If anyone has any concerns with judging or other parts of the show feel free to bring them to our clubs attention on Sunday. We don't bite.

Sure. I think you guys do a great job organizing the event, though less of an assault on the ears from the car stereo crowd is always appreciated.

Concerning the judging, the lack seemed to be wholly in several years running of judges not being familiar with the details of the class that they were judging. That's why I referred to Litchfield: those guys could smell the difference between NOS and aftermarket. They scared me a little.

Judging is always a dicey issue: I was at the first year of the VW Panic show in San Jose a decade ago and they gave their trophy for Best Ghia to the show organizer who drove a Ghia that looked like it had been used as target practice on a shooting range. This was in lieu of the sano Ghia convertible that a gentleman had driven down from Fresno, CA. Not nice.

I am NOT suggesting that CJVS has THAT problem. NO WAY. It is just tough to get knowledgeable judges that are experts on all of the catagories that you normally offer.

M

I felt this post was going nowhere until he threw the word "sano" in there and he totally redeemed himself.

Now I wanna buy this guy a beer or a cup of coffe Sunday, whatever he drinks is on me.

Gracias y Saludos. I can't help using slang I'm exposed to, even when it is older than old school. ("Boss" anyone?)

My wife (who's far smarter than I am) says its like carrying on a conversation with The Urban Dictionary.

When the barn find Bus is on the road, it will be really interesting to see what it can do on a race track. I always thought the idea of bracket racing seemed like a way to let anyone play, which was always a good thing: the only one you're competing against is yourself.

Strong words my man....
There's been some pretty rusty rides rollin the swap at E town in the past.

I managed to get done everything I needed to get done this weekend, this afternoon... so now I can focus on loading up some quality pre-owned parts tonight and tomorrow. \:D/

What time does the gate open for vendors again ?

BTW... Anyone planning on bringing a FULL WIDTH rear camper seat or a Z bed set up for the regular rear seat ?
( For a baywindow )
I need one...lets talk :D

mannys66 Fri Apr 13, 2012 6:40 pm

Chris I have something for you. I have to make a list of things to bring to the show so I don't forget to bring this for you .

A surprise ?
Cool !
The anticipations killing me ~

Hopefully it's not too big :D
I'll make room if it is, but I think I'm gonna be seriously overloaded now that I'm looking at the pile I have to bring...and I'm not done building my big motor yet either.

It's gonna be a sloooooowwwww ride out there this time.

Bobmagneto Sat Apr 14, 2012 6:52 am

I borrowed my bosses ten footer trailer which has seen a many Vws and pulled them no problem. I loaded it last night with the larger parts I'm bringing and it is squatting like the axle is gonna break! What is the minimal speed limit in Jersey? I have no idea where the rest will go but even if I have to sit on it, the cooler of beer is coming too. Anyone looking for late Bug doors, core motors, baja kits, fenders, Bus decklid, Bus motor hatch, and a shit load more Bug parts?

Doug914 Sat Apr 14, 2012 7:30 am

I'll be there with the D/C. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. The entry fee is cheap for a fun all day event.

The 15-window isn't going to make it though. needs a bit more metal work. Maybe next year ;)
