| I'm in for 3 mustache bars as well. This baywindow mustache bar lineup is going to far surpass the OCTO/Classic Barndoor lineup in coolness. |

Ahhhhh...
Come on over to the dark side.
It's far more fun to have a parts pile you trip over constantly
Besides...then you can be like the rest of us and buy another part when you need it, cause the three you already own are buried in your stash somewhere.

You ain't kidding Matt.
Those of us fortunate enough to own extra mustache bars should line up in the swap next to each other with them prominently displayed right out front of our spots ...
That scene has the makings for a swap meet pic worth salivating over ~ |

Not really...
Most swap meets are over ( as far as finding any deals anyway ) by about 10 in the morning at the latest...but E town always seems to have fresh vendors rolling in all day.
I know the car show part is still going strong at 1 PM...and the racing dosen't even start until later in the morning for the noise.
Does anyone have any extra ropes and tensioners for a Bay Westy tent they want to sell ?
I have the tent, stakes, and poles already...but no ropes
Really want to set my tent up this year with my camper at Flanders. |

| Why dont some of you bus boys come out of the swap and onto the starting line?? You don't need to be fast to have a good time. I won a track championship there in a VERY slow car |

For beginners or someone looking g just to have fun, when you get to the front gate you say your racing and want a Trophy Eliminator Tech Card. I believe it is $25 for car and driver.
Then proceed into the pits and go through technical inspection. Mainly need a helmet, long pants and a tee shirt. I will loan helmets to anyone that needs one.
Then wait until about 10.15 when they call time trials....or practice. You make a few runs down the track a d establish an average elapsed time. In eliminations you write what you PREDICT your elapsed time down the track will be and line up with someone. Once on the starting line a beads start is given to the slower vehicle (difference in e.t predictions on window) and first one to the finish line without going UNDER their prediction....wins. It is single elimination.
If someone actually decided to race, on Sunday I will teach them all they need to know and go into more detail do you, your vehicle, others are all safe but you also HAVE FUN!! The headstart thing is why you do not need a fast vehicle. And nothing like legally going as fast as you can for a quarter mile.
Now if you don't want to abuse your stuff to hard you can shift below max RPM. Leave the starting line easy. All kinds of things. I've been doing it since I was 17invited and have a few pointers.
Maybe all of the bus guys or club guys can get together and for fun, see who has the fastest out of their group. A shootout of sorts. I run a fast street legal Vw shootout in south carolin.a in july myself.
If enough guys want to show or swap and race, maybe in October I can talk to the track and get a reduced rate combination package??? |

| I'm seriously thinking about taking my pop-top down the track on Sunday now. This sounds like it could be a good time. And since it will take me 30 seconds to run the 1/4 mile, I'll get to enjoy it about twice as long as everyone else out there! |

Just post pics of your time and let people assume its for a 1/2 mile run.
If I can throw a motor back in my bus by this weekend, I'm in too. |

If you plan on racing you need a helmet. I have 3 extra if you need to borrow one. Any motorcycle or motocross helmet is okay.....no bicycle helmets.
Also when you get to the front gate and say you want a Trophy Eliminator tech card they will ask if you have a Raceway Park permanent number......LIE......SAY YES. This is pretty much a scam for $5. When you go to tech inspection ask the guy to give you a number....its free. You'll only be using it for this day anyhow.
Once we finalize who wants to be a rookie racer, I can set up a small meeting at my trailer to go over the basics and give out some friendly tips if you guys would like.
Come on.....anyone with a bug, ghia, bus.....ANYTHING.....Come on out and race. Fast or slow |

I would like to see the show, but I am more interested in the parts. I am looking for anything for a westy. Heck, if I can even find gauges (CHT, Tach, oil). I would love to find the panel that goes under the z-bed!!!
So you saying if you looking for bargains....they usually end at 10 am??? Until what time do these shows go on for? When would be a good time to come if I am interested in parts??? |
