in order to get the best deals on parts your best bet is to get there when the swaps open. also it is best to keep an eye on where the swap ends this way as newcomers roll in you can be there as they are unloading and make the swoop.

I haven't been able to attend any VW show last year because my first baby was born in last Oct. Please count us in this time. I am looking forward to see you everyone at the show. (Pls stop by and meet my baby Karen, she will be a future supporter for the show!)

mannys66 Thu Apr 12, 2012 8:06 am

we sure will Toku. I look forward to seeing you guys plus baby Karen this weekend.

In the spirit of and in tribute to recently departed member Paul G., everyone of the club members should plan on being "the first to arrive and last to leave" this show!

dunebuggy888 Thu Apr 12, 2012 2:03 pm

I disagree Best deals are found at the end last hour or so

Everything I sell is half the price after noon but before that well lets just say I need the money to fix my bus up sorry guys lol

But If you see me im the guy with a white tdi pulling a big trailer il give the club members better deals since well lets face it this site saved me hundreds

Bobmagneto Thu Apr 12, 2012 3:01 pm

It seems to me I never find any deals cause I can never find what I'm lookin for! ](*,)

dunebuggy888 Thu Apr 12, 2012 4:16 pm

If your looking for something you will never find it all the good deals are random

Bobmagneto Thu Apr 12, 2012 4:30 pm

I wish I could swap all the stuff I have and don't need but is too nice to throw away for the stuff I can actually use. Throwing Vw parts away is a sin; theres always a use for it! [-o<

Stanagon Thu Apr 12, 2012 5:52 pm

Throwing VW parts away is not good, but you can always give them away at the show, if nothing else. End of the day deals can be the best.

I'm packed and ready to roll down on Sat. Thinking back to last year's show.

I'll be on the lookout for t-3 parts, just invested in a 68 square! need a red reflecter for passenger side rear and the chrome moulding under the pass door.

RafCarre12 Thu Apr 12, 2012 7:50 pm

Which reflector Ramon? I have a pile of stuff in the basement.

Bobmagneto Thu Apr 12, 2012 9:01 pm

Can't tell which is the water-cooled section and which is the parking lot.

I'll be there scouting parts for my late bay. If anyone has stash, or a parts vehicle, I'm looking for a fuel tank that isn't completely rotted with rust or for a premium, has already been through resto.

PM me if you think you've got something to bring.

On a different note: I quit going to Etown for two years because I was simply sick of the judging: Where else can you go to have a pimped lowered custom job enter a stock class...and win?

(Although Dubs on the Boards in Wildwood really takes the cake: A Bay bus and a convertible enter the sedan class, and take first and second place. My gawsh that was a badly run show.)

The toughest judging I ever had was at Litchfield: those folks run a tight ship. Winners of class are held to the standards of the class: stock/custom/etc. Pimp out your ride and enter it in a stock class, you'll be told to either compete in custom class, or withdraw your entry from judging.

After Dubs on the Boards following Etown, I decided that I was done showing and sold. Now I only go for swap and some of the folks I know.

webwalker, let me get this straight. You got sick of the stupid judging and sold your vw because of it? So thats to say you owned your vw for nothing else except to win trophies? Not merely because you loved your vw or you were proud of it but because it was a beauty queen and because of poor judging and you losing you booted her? I could care less about trophies, I enjoy showing off my car but more importantly I enjoy driving it and owning it and that quite honestly is the ONLY reason I own my VW's.

That's a shirt. What's more fun: the show or driving to & from the shows? Right... Ridin' dirty. 8)

As one of the judges at this show I appreciate the feedback and even though you opted to sell you car I am glad to hear that you are still coming for the swap. If you could PM me some specifics regarding the situation you described it would be helpful in order for us to address it within our club and make sure that if folks are being classed improperly we can resolve the situation. That being said, we're looking forward to a great Spring opener and hope to see you all there. If anyone has any concerns with judging or other parts of the show feel free to bring them to our clubs attention on Sunday. We don't bite.

Have we met? :?

Do you know me? :|

Have you ever read anything I've posted here? :?:

Have we ever hoisted a beer? :?

Yeah, thought not. =;

Your ability to infer a person's motivations from a dozen sentences is really remarkable! Do you do parties? =D>

Let's get together at Etown and discuss this personally, since you've presumed to take a really rude swipe at someone you've never had two words with. Perhaps I'll tell you about the rest of what's going on in my life, which I don't necessarily air publically and had much more to do with the sale of my beloved 1302S to a collector than a $3.59 plastic trophy. Maybe that will satisfy you.

Because your satisfaction and approval means everything to me.

Sure. I think you guys do a great job organizing the event, though less of an assault on the ears from the car stereo crowd is always appreciated.

Concerning the judging, the lack seemed to be wholly in several years running of judges not being familiar with the details of the class that they were judging. That's why I referred to Litchfield: those guys could smell the difference between NOS and aftermarket. They scared me a little.

Judging is always a dicey issue: I was at the first year of the VW Panic show in San Jose a decade ago and they gave their trophy for Best Ghia to the show organizer who drove a Ghia that looked like it had been used as target practice on a shooting range. This was in lieu of the sano Ghia convertible that a gentleman had driven down from Fresno, CA. Not nice.

I am NOT suggesting that CJVS has THAT problem. NO WAY. It is just tough to get knowledgeable judges that are experts on all of the catagories that you normally offer.
