Hello all,
In my haste to lower the front of my '74 std I did little research and installed a set of 2.5 drop spindles with the stock wheels, tires 165/80/15. This caused horrible tire rubbing so I bought some Ferderal Formoza 165/45/15's for the front only. They would not fit on the stock rims so I got the 914 replica wheels and everything is rolling well now (after a few fitment issues).
NOW (besides looking funny) the front beam is way to close to the ground. Less than 2" I'd say. Normal streets are fine for the most part but once a dip, speed bump, or rail road tracks come along the beam often makes contact.
I still have the stock tires (165/80's) and am thinking about putting them on up front but I'm worried about the rubbing issue. I would love to not worry about dealing with two different tire sizes so I could only run one spare.
The only thing I really haven't tried is swapping the tires over and seeing how it goes, but I thought I'd reach out for any input from the pros first.
Thanks |

| I just buy pairs of good used tires cheap and run them. Then I'm not that worried about buying more if/when I feel like it. I'm running 185X60 & 205X70 and just carry a 165X80 spare. |
