Just shipped a 65 ghia project from San Fran to Md. Was positive going to paint pearl white but shocked by the paint cost and see on this site not orig color (which still may not prevent me from using pearl). The orig colors in why r Aconda or Lotus. The color swabs don't give me enough of an idea of what look like. The Aconda appears to have yellowish tint. The lotus close to a pearl. Can anyone describe these colors? Is there a color close to pearl white that is not expensive with all the stages?

I'll be honest with you, color really doesn't make a difference in cost, except red. If you're worried about the cost of paint, you should shop around a little, to find the best deal on the color you want. I only say that, because I just got done painting my own car, and I've got close to 3K just in paint and primer (not body work, as that's a whole different deal), and I've got single stage paint on the lower half of the car (it was 160 a quart+ reducer and hardener, and I needed a gallon and a half (6 qts) as I painted everything, including underneath, as it was a body off pan resto), and base coat clear coat (BCCC) on the roof ( at 50 a pint+ reducer and clear). A friend of mine just painted his truck in Garnet red BCCC, and that paint was 204 a quart, with 2 quarts needed, plus the reducer and clear, along with the 2nd color (it was 2 toned), and that stuff was 178 a quart (again 2 quarts needed). Paint has just gone sky high in prices lately, and there's nothing you can do about it, but shop around for the best deal.

The color you choose might have an impact on the price. I repainted a bug (Yukon yellow) about 1.5 years ago with PPG paint and was limited to the mid-priced brand they had.
