So I got my weld in adjusters in and I have a question for you guys I did search but did not find the answer I was looking for.

I cut my hand so I can get out there and play test fit and figure it out so I thought I would just ask you guys.

Inside my new adjusters there are 2 set screws one is small, and can not be reached unless the inner sleeve is removed the other is the large one that goes through the tube and hits the spring plates.

So my question is the small set screw does it just sit there like it is to support the sprigs and since I removed the small springs I image it will not be making contact with anything.

I plan to line the notch in the spring plate with the large bolt set screw that goes all the way through and has the lock nut on it.

What can you tell me about that small set screw?

Thanks

The smaller set screw holds the leaves tight in the circular anchor piece. The longer set screw it the one the adjuster screw pushes against to rotate the anchor piece and raise or lower suspension height.

The drawing is by Matthew Pate. I'm not sure what his note on seams is about

Note that there is different setup if beam is Ball Joint vs King & link....

The way the adjusting screw is oriented and the inner lock set screw is located will depends on what beam type you have...

The small screw holds the dimple in the leaves. What you do is remove the large screw rotate the inner sleeve to expose the small screw, install the leaves so the screw will hit the dimple, tighten screw, rotate leaves, install large screw.

thanks for the quick answers guys.

Is there any negative effect on the adjuster or leafs since I removed all the upper and lower small leaves? In other words will it fit properly and the grub screw tighten up correctly?

should I cut them and put them in?

Thanks

Oh ya I have a B/J beam with avis adjusters currently.

It'll probably work OK for a while, but eventually because the leaves have more space to flex in the anchor piece, there will be movement, then it'll wear and eventually become loose. It'll take a while and depends on how hard you use it.
