TMI Premium kit in charcoal from JBugs, for a 70 sedan. I bought an extra yard of carpet to cover the exposed areas left by removing the stock seat rails, under the rear seat, and used some to cover the under seat divider panels. I have a good size piece that I will use for under the front hood/trunk area

I am really happy with the quailty and fit of the carpet, because I modified the tunnel and heater channels for seat mounts I had to modify the carpet in a few places but was easy to work with and install.

bit more progress, Removed the beam and Installed adjusters, swapped the four lug for chevy pattern rotors and installed my 15x3-1/2" centerlines with 145-65 smart car tires.

It has the right look now. What do ya think?

mocked up the headlamps and installed the seats. I may have the seats reupholstered to match the rear when it gets done. the headlamp buckets will get painted to match the charcoal. my next major task is the door vents and glass with scrapers.

You have a lot of real sublte and cool details - I like the "chrome trim". Really slick idea. You sure spend a bit of time standing back, looking at the car and thinking, don't you?

finished the lights and all the wiring, installed the door glass, vent windows and all new rubbers. ran into a few difficulties but overall not to tough.

I wish I would of had better original pieces, when you start cleaning everything up you realize how bad (scratches, mars, scuffs ect.) the parts really are. But since, i am not building a show car so these parts had to do.

Well my volksrod is about 95% I still need the rear seat cover from J-bugs. Once I install it and the seat belts, then I will be 99% It will always need a tweek here and there. but definetly will start driving it within the next couple of weeks.

few last pics of it in the shop. the next ones will be in the daylight driving.

side mirrors installed they will come off again for paint, chrome nerf bars, and interior shot. Hope you like them.

I have the same mirrors, but mine are a gloss black. Cant see SHIT out of them but they look damn good :P

Ive built plenty of really nice Beetles in my life. Now that I built my Volksrod, I have found it draws more attention from all walks of life than any of the others. Mines not going anywhere. When you roll in an event... people will crowd around to see whats so different, like it or not.

A friend brought to my attention that many of you may not be familiar with my other car. its not a vw but I hope you will appreciate it the same. here are a few pics.

As a side note, I do these on a regular guys budget, I do all the work myself farm out only a few things that I must, I take on side work for extra money or barter for parts. What I am is persistant and try to stay on task to "get er done"

wow that thing is amazing, dont think i should post this here but i want that thing wayy more and any old volkswagen. My goal is to build a 1971 purple plymouth hemi cuda for my dad. Its his all time favorite car, and has always wanted one since he was a kid. Im always nagging him to restore one or atleast get one that he can drive and work on it bit by bit but he wont. He says if he ever gets one he will go out and buy one already done. I want to build it for him, and i will one day.

well with the exception of taking to have the front end aligned, My VolksRod is 99% (done) here are a couple driveway pics and the back seat.

Very nice job....on both cars. Isn't it funny howparking a beetle next to an American classic makes the VW look so tiny? :lol:

here is the last of the build. dropped it off at SEARS for my friend to do the alignment. Drove it around the perimeter roads after. Man I love this thing. what an unreal amount of attention it gets.
