Those pops you hear are millions of bubbles bursting around the world.
It was never of matter of if, it was a matter of when. I guess when is now. |

| It's simple to look for in "Terminal". Mine isn't affected. Staying away from Russian porn sites probably has a lot to do with that. :) |

"The Flashback Trojan is not a virus. It cannot self-replicate and it cannot install itself on a system without thee user actively participating in the installation by typing in their admin password. What we have here is 600,000 complacent idiots who took the trojan horse in through the gates willingly."

| Yep. All this tells us is that Mac users can be just as stupid as PC users. |

True... that's how most PCs get infected too.
(No proof on that but my opinion) |

As others have pointed out, it's Malware and not a virus. The author of that story is an idiot who should learn the process of research and fact collecting.
Way to go, Honduh boy. |

It has to start somewhere, and it would appear that it has. Time will tell if it's as invincible as everyone that has one, hopes.
Nothing is idiot proof to a sufficiently talented idiot. |

It's actually newsworthy when a major Mac virus erupts (this thread being a prime example).
Does it even make page 43 on the paper when yet another a Windows outbreak occurs?
'Nuff said. |

| Some people say Mac is slightly less vulnerable than Windows from a technical standpoint, but the main factor is security through obscurity. If you are writing a virus or building a botnet, you will target 90% of the install base, not 5%. As Apple's profile is raised, they become a bigger target. |

| Another main factor is that Windows is a rewrite (to the 7th power) of a GUI plopped onto DOS. There are so many patches and band-aids that the number of easy entry points is astronomical. Apple chucked the old Mac OS and started fresh a few years ago with a more Unix-like system, which is stronger and simpler and has needed far fewer patches. It's not perfect by any means, but it's a far cry from the regular crashes and oddball behavior that I find even in new Windows PCs. |
