View original topic: stock street baja tire/wheel size help

I have a stock 69 bug with baja glass on it and im in need of new wheels and tires. This has been a backyard revival project and i cant seem to find the right setup for wheels/tires.

since this bug will be a daily driver i want to stick to a small common street tire. My other car is a 4x4 toyota pickup on 35's so common cheap street tires is what i want to run. Same size on all 4 so i can rotate them and make the tires last.

Ive been practically studying tires on cars as i drive around and walk through parking lots and the tires on my buddies boat trailer look almost perfect. They are 195/75r14. But i cant find any 14" wheels for 4 lug bugs. I will probably end up with the good ol' white steelies in 15x6 or 15x7. I have a set of 15x9 chrome steelies with 215/70r15 that came with the bug but they look too damn wide, which im wondering if its just the wheel cause its way to wide for those tires. Im having a hard time searcing for 195/75r15's im not sure if its a very common tire.

Diameter isnt really a big deal but i want to keep them relatively short, like a 27" or 28", since i am running a stock 1500 and this is my gas saver mobile. I want to find a very common tire because my first couple sets will most likely be used or junkyard tires so the "dime a dozen" factor can help save me some coin.

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

im thinking 195/65R15's. A tad smaller diameter than stockers, but will fit on a 15x7 and seem pretty common. Later on if i baja this thing any more and need larger tires i should be able to put some 30's on those wheels right?

I have 31/10.50 15's on my 7" Ultra wheels. They work out great.
