Not new to volkswagen, but kinda new to air-cooled... new to owning them at least. Just thought I'd introduce myself since I'll actually start posting now!
My name's Gauge, I look forward to meeting lots of new people!

Anyway, here's the Bug:

$24 to fill up... <3 by GaugeDoisher, on Flickr

I do have quite a bit of plans for it, possibly making this a build thread.
Starting with dropped spindles asap :)

Nice car.

It sounds like you're ready to make it less than it appears to be.

Congrats.

Nice car man! Honestly, I would leave it the way it is!

Wow...gorgeous. I too would leave it the way it is :D

Um, yeah I agree, your bug looks sweet the way it is. Your bug looks now the way I want my 64' to look when I am done... Do you have any info on your current suspension set-up, wheel sizes and tire sizes? Again your bug looks real good as is...

Thanks! Trust me I love the way the bug looks right now, I'm not going to do Amy major changes, just go slightly lower, few accessories here and there, and redo the interior, and tune the engine.

Normally I would never buy a car that's already built, but I made an acception since my dad is the one who built the beam, and got it running right.

Beautiful dont change a thing!

I rarely tell people to not go lower but that thing sits so nicely as it is, going lower would be like putting implants on Christina Hendricks, its jusssst right.

lol. He's going to think I told you all to say "I'd leave it as is"
Thats funny.
The car was parked in a lean-to "car port" in 1969, the motor dropped a valve, they took it apart saw the damage threw the motor and related parts in a box and put it all in the back seat! One of the guys here at work found it for sale on a mustang website ($2500 I think) in 07 in Tyler Tx, he was able to get the car for $900!! I narrowed the beam 4 inches welded in adjusters and lowered the rear one notch. We were able to find a set of NOS pistons and cylinders and one used head, I took the case apart and it looked perfect inside, put it back together with the new pistons and used head and all the same tune up peices!! Brian added a few things to the car along the way, so did the next guy that bought it. I really wanted the car when Brian put it up for sale but had to much going on (as I do now!!) Its cool that my son ended up with the car!! He was able to get the car on his 19th birthday!!

About to get started on the interior, and then maybe do something else with the wheels. Don't know if I'm feeling the brown.
