thought it about time I showed some pics of my project, I've had it 3 months now and things are moving quite quickly now!

this is my 1st Type3 having owned 3 bugs in the past it makes a nice change and I'm very excited to crack on and get it finished!!

so this is what it looked like before I got my hands on it, a decent head start!

and the day it arrived.

slow progress at the moment, had a few set backs but got one side complete and looking good! have got a little bit of play in the top arm I think that can be adjusted out (hopefully  ). The other side is on hold until I find some high tensile bolts that are missing, they are 1mm fine pitch so a little tricky to locate...

Looks great!

Great work! I like what you did to the license mount on the front apron.

is the gas tank getting modified also?

noticed the stock gas door / filler neck location has been closed off...

the gas tank will be filled up from inside now like early models only the filler neck is further back near the original place, all will be revealed later!

Brent, the PO cut the licence plate holder out and smoothed it over, wouldn't of been my choice but what's done is done and it looks OK.

finally got a rolling chassis and also have brakes now!! took a couple of times to bleed the system and I still have a fair bit of pedal travel, how much travel should I have?

My god that is awesome!!!

Keep the pics coming. It motivates me.

Mark Shutt Sat Apr 28, 2012 12:36 pm

will do, next up is the wiring loom, that will be fun!

Mark Shutt Sat May 12, 2012 2:14 am

will get some fresh pics up very soon, most of the wiring is in and tested and working! gave me a few headaches on the way..

got the wipers working great too but just had to take them out again to get those pesky fresh air vent cables on so wasn't happy about that.. and guess what? I just remembered I haven't attached the water hose on the washer jet

I think my plunger valve is de-funk, I can blow air through it both ways.. damn!

I thought about mentioning that in your other thread. But then I thought, nah, he'll get it.

So the way to do it is -- Don't push the spray nozzle into the cowl until you've fished the hose through and attached it on the outside of the cowl!

I also used a small sewing needle to adjust each sprayer to hit the window in the right place. They rotate inside the plastic housing and were terribly off before adjusting.

Mark Shutt Sat May 12, 2012 11:19 am

just done it, battled for about 5 minutes then pulled the wiper assembly off again! I'm getting good at that, only takes a few minutes to remove now

shame my wiper switch has a bad valve in it because the system now works except it constantly sprays water without pressing the plunger  I take it there's nothing I can do apart from replace the switch?

interior is coming along nicely now, most of the electrics are spot on and working, spent some time getting the original clock to work which was fun and worth the effort!
