| I've never seen that, fun. Amazing how quick the bugs would flip and doors open on all the cars. No seat belts, helmets, etc. They were flipping one over while the driver was trying to crawl out the windshield, crazy. |

They knew Fastys were junk parts cars from the start; why bother proving it? :P |

I thought is was interesting that most everybody got up and walked away from the crashes... a few were flung out and then maybe sucked in. All in all, it looks like peole were either tougher back then... or the cars were tougher and saved their lives.
Lets hear it for old steel!!!! woohoo!!!! |

I can clearly see the bugs doesn't handle too well.
the only cars I noticed that never rolled time and time again was the 911s and the 914s
do you think any of the type 3s had IRS in that vid? seems like all were SA? |

I noticed the same thing about the Porsches but not the swing axles. Looking over the vid it looks like the overturned VWs were almost all if not all swing axles. Hard to tell with the vid resolution. I was able to spot frame horns on most of the upside down type 3s.
Looks like a lot of the other makes that flipped were swing axles too.
Wonder how much worse 356s would have fared compared to the 911 & 914s? |

Dont worry Ninja. THey still let assholes with their new cars-regular people get on the ring  Just pay the man at the gate after you sign your life away. Just like in that old vid. You can allways tell the tourists though, there the ones that blow all kinds of shit they packed over the coarse

All of the type 3 were SA, I carefully checked each one in the vid.
The 356 probably would of done ok compared to the other SA cars as I believe most 356 had a z bar.
lesson to be learned, never drive an early model [-X especially slammed or narrowed.

I used to work at a German-owned company and the guys who'd visit would often tell stories of going to the track just to watch 'the tourists' wreck their cars. Apparently, the Russians were good at tearing up a car as well.
One guy said that his dad used to take him to the track as a kid...and then taught him how to drive properly. The first time I drove to Detroit with Tilo was an experience. |

Just watched the first video & the longer 15 minute version on Youtube  . Some of the footage is newer than 1970 as I spotted a '73 "black & yellow" special edition Super Beetle. How bout the dude in the '71 Super 'vert ? Even though he didn't crash, now that was an asshat. His car was full of passengers.
In the longer version there are 2 Fastbacks (& a T-1 Ghia 'vert) None of which actually crash. Truth be told, the Notchs were probably more commonly bought & driven by asshats as their styling is so plebian. Still, sad to watch them being destroyed. -Laurence. |

| Laurence- just goes to show a notch is meant to be driven like a asshat, maybe that's why I am so drawn to their plebian beauty ;) |
