1971 Ghia....Runs great. Today after a long drive I turned off the car, then tried to start about five minutes later, but no luck.
No clicks, Battery fully charged, when the key is turned, all of the dash lights dim but nothing happens.
I turned on the headlights and they dimmed when I turned the key to start, but again no luck.
I returned to the car an hour later tried again. No luck. tried one more time and it started fine. Starts great now........
All advice appreciated.
Thanks. |

| Your starter might be starting to go bad. Make sure your not over heating causing the engine to bind up. NNext cold morning turn motor by hand to see how easy it turns and if it does it again only after driving it a long time and it wont start try turning it by hand again and compare. |

| sounds like a grounding problem. start at the battery and then go to the connection on the engine. a poor connection of the positive cable at the battery and the starter could produce the same symptoms. the cooling of the engine and connections could make the difference in conductivity and make it start. remember to disconnect a battery cable before putting a wrench on the starter solenoid post. if you short it out to the chassis it will be spectacular...might make you hurt yourself or even say "durn it." |
