Anybody ever made one of these things?

Here's one of the many videos

I'm starting to build one, didn't really know what kind of forum to post this in...so I figured why not TheSamba.

But here's a website with a bit of info on how to build them

http://www.fueltopia.co.uk/forum/topics/how-to-build-a-drift-trike

It looks simple enough. Pick up a small old bike, hack off everything and leave the downtube, front fork, handlebars (front brake if you're lucky), then toss an axle and plastic wheels on the back and bomb a hill. Just looking for any pointers some of you fabrication guys might think of. Like ideas for rear axle tube diameter? I'm thinking i'll get two big bolts, weld a washer on each of the bolt heads, then weld the washer and bolt to the tube ends, hopefully leaving me with two spindles.

Just thought I'd post it on here if anyone was interested. I'll be keeping a build log during the process if anybody wants me to post it up here.

I'll definitely be wearing a full motorcycle helmet and shoes when I try it, hopefully keep it somewhat safe. Right now I'm having trouble finding a frame. Anybody have an old small bike they wouldn't mind parting with?

No shoes is pretty stupid. Those guys are crazier then we are;

Go to your local dump or recycle center, I have gotten free bikes there. That is in WA. though

That looks like a ridiculously smooth and well paved road. At least compared to where I live anyway.

You have inspired me, me and a buddy are currently planning one. Could you send me a list of the required materials and what not?

Cheers!

We did the same thing with a busted Barbie Corvette and an atv.

They were called BigWheels. Came out in the late '60s... nothing new here. Please re-name this thread "Shoeless retards headed for the hospital for heel transplants". Thanks. :D
