Hey guys! Hope everyone is well. I need help finding the black plastic parts that sit underneath the bumper for Moose. Read more below :)
I want to replace the bumper setup on Moose. I don't like the tubular setup that's currently on her. I can see the holes in the body through the bumpers on the front of the back, and I don't like the spare tire setup in the back of the van (you can see the back of the van here http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/902815.jpg). Additionally, I need to use a hitch extender + silencer pin in order to use the rear hitch with a bike rack. She deserves better.
I want to move to the GoWesty bumper set. You can see it here http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23578&category_id=4335&category_parent_id=.
Please look at the image I made below... I put green arrows on the two black pieces that I need to find. Are they called Spoilers? I can't find much information on them, and don't really know what to search to find them. I fear that without these two black pieces, the GoWesty bumpers will just look weird.
Any thoughts or ideas? Anyone have a spare set of these they'd like to sell me?

| I think the sheet metal in the GW photos has just been coated with bedliner where your arrows are pointing. There are no plastic pieces that fit there that I know of. |

| That is paint, The fiberglass bumpers had a rubber strip that popped into the body behind the rear bumper but they don't really work with the gowesty bumpers. I removed them and just left it bare. I have the same color westy as yours. I can probably get picks if you want. |

Pictures would be amazing. Can you see the holes on your westy like you can on mine?

Can you clarify that for me a bit :) ? The fiberglass bumpers dent with a drop of rain so I'm glad they aren't on the van anymore. However, are you saying that some folks keep them on underneath aftermarket bumpers? No, right? |

| :bay_blue: I like your bumpers, save money , put your bikes on the roof! Get a GW ladder , use it inside and to put bikes on the roof! But then again I don't own your van. :D PS truck bed coating would look good behind your bumpers. |

I found this. Could this be what's on the front of the van?

I need a hitch in the front of the van and a hitch in the back. Can't put 4+ bikes on the roof with a Yakima Skybox. I also don't like how the rear VW emblem is covered by the current spare tire (that emblem is beautiful). Also, I'd like to be able to carry a dirt-bike + cooler on the back, as well as a gas can. Generally, I'd like to upgrade the setup. I just don't like it ;) |

| :bay_blue: No, and an air dam on the front of a syncro is about as good as a snow plow on a VW bug! :D Dirt bike , cooler, gas can, on back of van . Sounds like to much weight for rear of bus. PS I love your van! |

OK, will do. They do have her name welded into the front, as you can see here: http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/902822.jpg |

I would hardly compare my Syncro to yours though  Mine is ratty and ready to be flogged at a moments notice. |

No you can't see the holes. Here are a few cell phone pics, the last pic is the rubber strip that popped into the holes I'm pointing to. They are pretty ugly w /gowesty bumpers....they really only work with the stock fiberglass ones

I hope I'm not hijacking. I came up with this snowboard rack this week. I had Gary Lee make the side bars (supposed to be for a bike) slightly longer and I cut down a wide mouth ski rack and bolted it on. Works well. I have also mounted them horizontally across the top of a Fiamma rack and that worked well too.
Old set up

The green arrows point to bedliner.
The plastic wings that go with the factory bumpers are NLA new.
FYI, the stock bumpers were 5mph units meaning they could withstand an impact of 5mph without damage.
6mph will crack the fiberglass ones and dent the metal ones easily.
Having experience with the GW units, I will call them 10mph bumpers at best.
Clean lines for sure, but strength is not there strong suit.
If strength is most important to you...RMW all the way.
Those tubes on Moose were only OK copies of Mikes bumpers, BTW.
I don't care if people don't like the look of them, they are strong and the videos of them prove it. |

I'm thinking that if I seal all of the holes and do the bedliner all around the bottom of the van, I'll get the look I want and I can keep Moose's custom bumpers :) |

| insyncro is right. They do look bad ass but are not that strong. I am having a friend that builds rock crawlers beef them up significantly and will be adding tow hooks front and rear. |
