Bug Out 71 @ Old Dominion Raceway... Memorial Day weekend in Manassas, Va. Eastcoast premiere VW Show, 1/8mi Drag Racing, Slalom, Bikini Contest and a very HUGE swapmeet! Vendors from NC-Pa, Show Cars from ALL points! This event is always covered by Hot VWs...
There's a VW shop that's having a pre-show BBQ!
Monk's V.I. Volks 7903 Hill Park Ct, Lorton,Va is hosting a Pre-Bug Out BBQ with food ,drinks, and tools if anyone has any last-minute fixins before the Bug show on sunday. Stop by anytime on saturday for a few, he's gonna be packing up parts for the swapmeet. We're gonna be there chillin' cleaning our cars getting everything ready!

im def going.i'll be showing my watercooled golf and hopefully find parts for my 68 bug.hopefully i will be able to find some stuff.with the way the gas prices n all is who knows.

I plan on going and camping, weather permitting. I'll have some more slowriders with me. The oval and tattoo panel should be there.

^they've been saying that since the 90's. If they did close it, maybe it would force promoters to make positive changes to this event

If anyone has a loaner bus I'll drive it there! I plan on attending, first VW show outside of New England & New Jersey.

I remember an announcement at one of the shows MANY, many years ago when they said that would be the last Bug Out at that location. The track owners had purchased new property and the future Bug Outs would be held at the new location.

That was about 15 or 20 years ago. I guess that deal fell through.

one of the best bug outs I remember was the year the show got canceled bc of tornado threats and and torrential rains, the swap meet moved across the street to the armory and we carried on there for a good while in the morning.

So many complaints about the BugOuts, but on the other hand, some say it's the best east coast show.
I would love to see it moved, perhaps Virginia Motorsports Park? What does it take to move a show, we can't just wait around for the track owner to rebuild somewhere else.

They had a Bug Out at VMP back in the mid/late 90s. They also had one a Waynesboro Dragway. Went got a T-Shirt. LOL

Velocity is another channel run by discovery channel mostly about cars, I wonder what they will he high lighting? Or is there a show called velocity?

I believe you are right. They are recording for the Velocity channel.

Monk's 11am - until...... This is the 1st time doing the BBQ preshow gtg. A few of his staff and customers will be there and a few of us from Philly will also be heading down. Anytime after Noon will be fine. 8)
