Wanted one since 1979, when I bought my '69 Bug. My first car. Which I still have. But I *wanted* a Ghia. Now I have a '74, body is straight, nose is great, needs a front bumber (CA does not like nerf bars...). Needs a headliner, but I have the ribs, and I have to figure out why some of the lights work and some don't... I am going to replace the turn signal switch first. Starts right up at the turn of the key! Can't drive it in the rain - the wipers don't work. Got new headlights! No tail lights though... Oh, and it's that VW orange...
BUT I LOVE IT!

I think the color you're referring to is "L 20E (14) amber"

I agree it's a driver's car, but it's not the slowest unless you like it that way :wink:

But it is slow! I need to work on the suspension. Got good, sticky tires on it, so it's easy to out-drive just about anyone here on good old Hwy 1 North.

I take it "Fat Chick" means later Ghias, with wider fenders?

I gotta brag, though - I only paid $1600 for it. Running. Perfect nose. And the lights all work, now!

Post some pics. Fat chick term is stupid. A ghia is a ghia and 99% of the people wont know the difference and will want to talk a bout your car.

I don't have any problem with the term, except when I tell my wife I was looking at fat chicks online :lol:

HA! There he is! 1974 Ghia. Very Orange. I need a front bumper, any one want the nerf bars? <G> I need a headliner, and all the rubber around the windows. And ball joints. And shocks!
