I remember when Popular Mechanics offered/sold the plans for building these.
I am more interested today than I was 30 years ago in these.

NICE! I really wanted to photoshop the thing front end, but I figured my boss might not appreciate that today lol... glad you beat me to it!!

Yes!!

That is MORE like it!

brentphnx,
I'll be headed to your neck of the woods in early June. That Campbug is for sale local to me...
Send me a check and I'll pick it up and deliver it to ya!! Then you can swap it over to a Thing body! lol

Looks better with the Thing front end. The curves of the bug and the boxiness of the camper just don't jive...

Good god I can only picture the wife's face if that showed up on my driveway!!! My grandpa's thing, that's one thing... A home built camper??? Yeah.... :) I bet it'd sell down here though!

Somehow that just doesn't look safe - short wheelbase with a high center of gravity.

Sounds like you're talking about old Jeeps now, Nova :D

The word "fugly" comes to mind; but it doesn't change the fact that I want one...the Thing version of course.

But if I built one, would I have to move the fuel filler to the driver's side?

Or you can mirror the building plans...

That is certainly true, I almost flipped in a couple during the VietNam war!
