View original topic: Salvage tragedy w '66 tranny

We were salvaging parts off the shell of '66 bug that was headed to the crusher. We were doing great until it came to the shifter rod disconnection and under a time constraint my buddy cut the wrong side of union with a 90 grinder. So i have a 66 swing axle with a chopped shifter rod end. Is that a replaceable part? Should i toss it now?

Don't toss, they are avaliable in the classifieds or part suppliers. just need to remove the nosecone. Make sure the 3 shift forks are even when you put it back together. I'm assuming your talking about the Hockey Stick right?

X2. Easy fix. You need a hockey stick.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! This is coming from man who is currently taking a break from pulling his tranny for the second time in two weeks because he didn't pay attention to this. But you live, you learn... well you live anyways, lol
