| I did look at that and figured it was a 67 but the 22 in front didn't make sense |

as of 1965 with the 9 digit VIN...
the first number is type
2 for bus
the second # is model
2 is microbus
the 3rd is last year of model year
6 is 1966
so bus with VIN 226 xxx xxx is a 1966 standard microbus.
the xxx xxx is the # it rolled off the line in that model year
Quote: 227123679
is a 1967 microbus, the 123679th bus made for the 67 model year.
Quote: tables indicate:
1966 216 000 001 216 198 668
216 is a 1966 model year panel van. The panel (21) is the basic bus.
In the VIN chart you can consider the '1' a space holder, and just pay attention to the last 6 digits when looking up your 65-67 VIN.
so, bus 217 123 679 came off the assembly line right after 257 123 678,
and just before 217 123 680.
see?
( FWIW, I am guessing on the models of the buses before and after yours) |
