I have a 68 project bug. The previous owner refreshed the interior but did not install a mirror, i was told they were going to do a 'blink mirror'. At a swap meet i picked up a mirror that was from a 64. I can feel an opening when i press on the center of the headliner, where the steel is, but i cannot find the holes for the screws. Looking on the internet i found that 68 has a black plastic mirror. Can i use this mirror, or is the mount between the 64 and 68 different? Also if anyone has an interior pic with a exposed mount without headliner that would help out.

1968 has no screws.
it just inserts sideways and turns in the hole to stay.

| on mine I just cut an 'X' through the headliner a little smaller than the hole. Once installed, the mirror covers it nicely |

| Is the mirror hole spacing larger than the existing hole in the roof? |

Not the same mirror you have but the same screw pattern i just got 3 self taping screws and screwed it in after measuring twice to make sure it was center. |

| Thanks. The mirror hole spacing is larger than the opening made for the snap fit type. There is steel where the screw holes should be, so i will do the same and tap some in. I know it will not be a true 68, but i don't like the look of the snap in mirror. Thanks again |
