All, I have a quick question or two about distributor and carb. My engine is a DP and has a two barrel carb on it, but I do not know what manufacurer the carb is. It does have the 'SCAT' logo on it. My engine has the 'standard' distributor with the inherent flat spot/stumble off idle. Will this distributor http://www.hot-spark.com/Hot-Spark-SVDA034-3BOS4U1.htm work with this engine/carb setup? Has anyone got any info on the carb? Is $145 a decent price or am I buying less than I need? I am not looking for the cheap route out of this issue, but i do not wish to waste money either.

You need to find out exactly what carb you have.
Personally I would not use that distributor, it's not very well made and probably will not help your engine run better.
If you have a Weber Progressive carb, you should get a SVDA from aircooled.net. It's more expensive but it will work. |

| All, I am sorry, I just took another look at the carb. It does not say 'SCAT' on the carb, but it's on the intake manifold. Carb has some numbers on it that are obscured by the Tri-Mil exhaust. A couple of casting numbers on the 'barrel castings on the left side of carb. Front barrel is labeled '26' and rear is labeled '27'. I also found the words "made in Spain" on the rear of carb. It has an electric choke, if this helps ID it. Again, any help is appreciated. Bob |

Most likely a Weber Progressive.
Get the SVDA from Aircooled.net, they sell one specifically for that carb. |

| How would I tell for sure? No offense, but money is tight right now and i want to get it right the first time. Unemployed and needing to use this as my daily driver kind of sucks right now. It's either that or drive a 67 Mustang hotrod that gobbles fuel by the tankful. |

There's a manufacturer's name and part number on the carb.
Also, what's the part number on the distributor? |

Sorry forthe delay getting back with answers. life kind of side-tracked me. I just came in from looking and the distributor is a '009' unit, and with a bright flashlight and a tiny inspection mirror I was able to find the name 'Weber' on the 2bbl carb.
So, with this in mind, is the recommendation still to use the aircooled.net distributor? Am I safe to assume that i should go ahead and order the upgraded ignition also?
Anybody else who's done this upgrade please feel free to chime in on your results. I don't mean to sound iffy on this, but if the returns are minimal, I'd rather wait for now due to low resources caused by career derailment this year. On the opther hand, this is my daily driver now, so I do need to get max mileage and dependability out of it. Thanks for any input. Bob |
