This is my third 36hp "high" performance build. The first one was a stock build using a Judson blower than ended up in a '57 oval window that I sold a couple years ago to a gent in Puerto Rico, the other was a stroked 36 using a vintage EMPI crank 69.5 crank and Rethwish dual carb kit. This one is also stroked, I had Dennis at Moonlight Machine in San Diego build the crank (69.5) and as usual had everything balanced. I used a Schneider ground performance cam and a 36hp style doghouse shroud which required me to modify the mounting base for the oil cooler. The engine idles and revs with no vibration. I bought the WW pseudo-Okrasa kit. I also used a NOS German VW stamped muffler which has a nice exhaust note and mounted a oil filter that I found in a parts stash that had been chromed. My problem with this one now is the return oil line fitting into the case is leaking. I had to bend the hard line part in order to clear the distributor top clamps so I could rotate it. I think it must have distorted the seal at the bottom of the hard line. I plan on trimming the hard line back and putting a new seal or collar on it, whatever it is called. You can also see my inelegant solution to clearing the rain tray on a '60 'vert, I bought some cheap EMPI air cleaners and cut the filters down and modified the base on the right one to get it to fit.

| might want to put a 45 degree fitting on there. and be sure there isant any vibration or it can snap the oil line, just a tie/clamp hear or there but not binding, just to keep any ossolations down. |
