I have a 70 sedan that I recently picked up. I have some 4 1/2" 4 lug sprint stars w' 145's to put on the front and would like to run 5 1/2 on the rear. Will they fit with a 165 tire?
Anyone have a photo of what I am talking about? |

Check on the Sprintstar registry. IIRC, the answer is yes. I've had 165's on 5.5" Sprintstars on my '68, but it's a swingaxle:

| The tire calculator I'm using says that a 5 1/2" wide rim is the maxumum rim size for a 165/80-15, so yes it will work. |

Hello from the Sprintstar Registry owner :D
Yes, I confirm that 165's will fit a 5,5" rim. I used to have them on my bug.
Bye,

| LOL...should have been moire specific. Will a 5.5" Sprint w' 165 tires fit without sticking out of the fender? |

| I had a 185-65 on a 5.5 it was close at stock height, Probably would rub inner fender if lowered. |
