View original topic: How to Sand inside Vents?

This may be a newbie question, but how do you guys prep the area behind the rear vents below the rear window?

(picture from the gallery):

The area i am talking about is the flat piece with about 9 of louvers behind the vertical vents.

I dont recommend sand, but some kind of media blast will work.
Use sand if you want but remember it cause's rust.

Look @ harbor freight for one time use equipment that you dont want to tie alot of money up in.

1. Aerosol spray Paint Remover.
2. Several Rags , Plastic Covering . Plastic Scrapping Utensils, etc.
3. Sand Paper taped to a long drill bit extension, creating a
Flapper ( Not the women type ! ).
Similar to the Baseball Cards you attached to your
bicycle's wheel spoke's to make that awesome flappin'
noise around your neighborhood.
4. Dremel tool sanding (abrasive) attachment's with extensions
in Dremel tool or a regular 3/8 in. chuck drill.
5. Mineral Spirits in a spray bottle.
6. Best access is through half moon holes on the bottom of the Vent.

OK, that seems too obvious HAHA.

How is this area painted typically? To match the car & cleared or are people making this black or giving it another treatment?

Sorry for all the ignorant questions, mine just has some horrible over-spray in this area and it looks like hell (more so than the rest of the car's paint). Trying to understand for when i start prepping for a nice paint-job.
