Ev - any chance of getting you to post a list of words and phrases that are not allowed in the forums? Or does such a list already exist? I can understand your need to protect the site form complaints of slander and such, but some of the word/letter combos that get deleted really detract from legitimate discussions. Just as one example, it appears there are several bus owners, early and late, that have another hobby that involves a particular type of watercraft, which often comes up during topics involving roof racks. However, the correct name for their vessel of choice ends up being replaced with "bleep", making a legitimate discussion come out like this: locolobo wrote: I have carried 4 mountain bikes at one time with no problem as well as two bikes and a bleep. For the bleep you may want to consider having another set of racks, one at each end of the bus, to help stabilze the boat.
Although it’s usually not hard to figure out what was censored, as in the above example, there are some instances that leave you scratching your head saying WTF? If the current suppression criterion remains, a ‘do not use’ list might help posters avoid using censored terms so that discussions can stay on track without looking like someone’s trying to yank your chain because of the ‘bleep’. |

There was an oversight in one of the filters, I removed it.
Here is what is filtered:
The source of the JHC's hatred
A certain lady who gets attacked all the time with "Arizona" in her name
A couple abnormal swear words |

And today, there is rejoicing in scunthorpe, as they are now able to register legally on the samba, instead of saying they are from "somewhere near liverpool."

| Darn that means we can't use words like, 'bleep', 'bleeping', 'bleeper','bleep bleeping bleep bleep', 'bleep this', 'bleep that', or 'bleep bleep'. But for some reason 'mother in law' slips thru... |

Okay, my 2 cents...if you wanna get away with swearing without actually swearing...use Sci-Fi swear words. Take the show _Farscape_ for example...What the frell are you doing? Don't give me that dren, you're totally fharbot!
Bus owner...science fiction lover...you bet!

Great, now there are rules for swearing, and a secret language to it. Why can't we just keep the simple, understood swear words that are universally recognized? Have we really made life that overly complicated?
Oh bleep it!
 |

For a while, there was a temporary filtering which changed "fuck" to "fark". I really liked that, thought it was hillarious. I would like to see "fark" come back temporarily, just for the amusement value.
Now that the object the the JHC's adolation has been off the site for a few years, would it not be reasonable to remove that filter? |
