View original topic: 14 X 6 Wide 5 rims. What tire size is best for front?

Help! I have an early 66' Meyers Manx with a 62' chassis (link/king pin) with the wide 5 bolt pattern. I just purchased some 14 X 6 smoothies for the front. I'm trying to find what tire size would work best. My concern is rubbing on the frame when the steering wheel is cocked all the way left or right. P215 60 R14 seems like they will be a little too wide. Anyone been down this road? Looks like 3/8 inch spacers are an option to help a little. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Mine rub at full lock when I have the 14" rims with 205/60s on my car. I figure though that I am always at low velocity when I have the wheel cranked like that, so I dont sweat it.

I run 14x6 chrome smoothies with a 195/70R tire up front. I use old fin alum adapters. No turning or rubbing problems. This tire diameter matches original OEM so speedometer is accurate. Chassis is 65 linkpin.

Hi Mike1991, Might you happen to have a picture of your 14 X 6 Chrome smoothies. Just curious if your have an offset that helps compensate for the wider rim. Mine look to be stock offset bus rims that are 6 inches wide. I followed your pics. You do have an old Manx! Very early Pan. Couldn't get a close enough look at those rims though. How thick are your spacers? Thanks for any help you can provide.
