C'mon... everyone (well maybe not everyone) has experienced theft and our bugs or buses or whatever they may be are valuable and when something goes missing, we get cranky, so tell us... what is the most unusual thing you have had stolen!?

I'll begin: I took my bug to the beach last week and when I came back home and went into the engine compartment, I found that one of my air circulation pipes (don't know its proper name) was missing! It was there earlier that day because I checked the oil and my hand brushed against it. There is no other way it could have fallen out and the beach I went to is known for thieves so my 'hood' was popped and the part yanked out. Finally, no auto shop had one that was the right size (too big they were) and a replacement part cost me $4.60 from a VW auto store!

You're probably asking why I didn't just lock the compartment, well I tried (that morning infact) and the key snapped in two.

i had valve stem caps with he wolfsburg crest on them. i bought them several years ago and at a show earlier this year someone stole one of them. i know it didn't fall off either because i had just tightened all 4 of them the day before when i was detailing my car. the thing that really pisses me off is that i can't get a replacement. i contacted the owner of the company that used to make them and he said there was nothing they could do. now i have 3 wolfsburg crest valve stem caps sitting in a parts box in my garage. i know it's a small thing, but it really pissed me off. i just wish i could have walked up on the guy as he was taking it off my wheel!

I used to make my lunch the night before work and leave it in a small cooler in my bus so I wouldn't forget it. I came out in the morning to find my driver's door open and the cooler empty on the front seat. Nothing else including cd player, speakers and a few cd's touched. I guess they were just hungry.

I've had two small jerry cans of spare gas stolen off the luggage rack of my westie stolen this summer. I'm gonna have to get a cable and lock it to the roof! Jeremy

OK here goes:

1: Roof rack off of my oval
2. My '57 oval stolen from the parking lot I worked in pushing shopping carts(eventually got it back)
3. One year (about) later my oval again from my parent's driveway.
4. Bought a bus with the money from the oval, they broke in and stole the stereo.
5. Same bus, this time they broke in and stole the detachable face from the stereo (forgot to detach it). They didn't even take the Trek mountain bike in the back, or the stereo, or my CD's, just the face.
6. Same bus, they broke in and stole nothing. Just broke the window and tried to get the stereo, but didn't get it.

If I ever meet ONE thief I'm taking all this crap out on him, so I hope he has a good insurance policy.

well its not VW but unusual to me.
Here at work, we have a fridge in the break room to keep our lunch in. I had just brought a new container of that KC Masterpiece BBQ Roast beef sandwich meat and a brand new package of buns. I was gonna be the Envy of the office once they smelled what I had going on that day for lunch. Well, about 11:45 I start to get the hankering for those roast beef sandwiches and guess what? Some bastard stole my lunch! The whole ensemble. I was pissed. I think it was the fat lady in the office around the corner. I put a big note on the fridge calling the thief a pittiful low life then someone took it down.
My thing is this. You can mess with a lot of things but dont mess with my food. :2gunfire:

I've had two CD players, A box with two 15" RockFosgates, and an amp stolen. Along with the CD players, they took the CD that was in them, and my custom made in dash housing. That's what hurt the worst! Luckily I haven't had and VW stuff stolen or tools.
