Just from your VIN, the "5" in the 256 indicates it's a deluxe bus with short middle seat.
Deluxes came with the sunroof and roof windows as you have unless it was ordered deleted (code 130), so there is no code on the m-plate for those two features.
Split seats is code 081 on the m-plate.
If you've followed threads on Samba, you know the m-code plate is sometimes gone and there are often problems with VIN matching. The fact your air box plate number matches the only permanent number, in the engine compartment, is a major source of relief. Enjoy your new "bait and switch" purchse! |

From my experiences with vintage cars, I've learned never make an absolute statement about anything as there will usually be an exception. That being said, here's what I'd say:
You really have two questions; (1) Were there ever Deluxe buses ordered with roof windows and no sunroof? I would bet someone could have special ordered that set up as VW was open to special orders. Whether anyone did, is another story.
(2) Would that also be code 130? Probably not. 130 is a delete option for both sliding roof and windows. If there was a special order, I imagine the factory would have another code for "special option" or would create a specific code for just roof windows. |
