Hi,

How much work ( machining? ) is it to add a diff lock to a syncro front diff? I have access to a dismantled syncro transmission that still has all the diff lock parts and I'm hesitating on buying just to convert my front diff in the futur.

All hose and actuator is not a big deal for me but not sure how much work to modify the front diff.

Thanks

Mathieu

You need a front diff case that has the boss for the locker shaft and switch that you can machine out or get a case that already has the hole. Then you can use the locking diff and actuator parts (actuator, mounting bracket, shaft, sleeve, switch, and arm) from the syncro tranny.

Then you would also have extra parts for a rebuild in the future if you need one. The ring and pinion, mainshaft, low gear housing, and low gear housing components are the most expensive parts since they are syncro only.
