Sambavolks -
My rebuild of Sunny the '86 wolfsburg weekender continues. I've seen a number of pics and posts where Westy folks have added a second front bracket/table kit.
I've never been in a full Westy. I think I want to mount a front bracket/leg/table set on the passenger side (bolted "mirrored" to what is "normal.")
This will give us an additional table for kitchen-stuff. It will be parked "over" our original dometic Wolfy 12v/110v fridge (bolted to the floor behind the front passenger seat.) The top-loading fridge should still be accessible with table above.
I'll most likely move the knob hole to the other side of the base as others have done to complete the "mirror" effect.
I also plan to use a jack point to make the Westy table an outside table for stove, etc when in camp.
1. Should I just buy an all-new "front table kit" from one of the main vendors, or pick up the piece from the classifieds?
2. Would a rear table + front table leg and mount work in that location (remember, I've never touched a real Westy interior...) The bigger rear table would have greater utility as an outside table, I think.
Thanks!

We have a full Westy with the two tables in the standard places.
I've found that trading them--that is, putting the smaller, "front" table back where the rear one belongs and putting the "back" one (bigger) crosswise behind the two front seats, works really well as far as giving you an extra "kitchen counter."
The bonus (with a fully Westy, anyway) is that the smaller table swivels out of the way in the back (to access the hatches underneath and the closet door) much more easily than the bigger one does.
I like this arrangement so much that the "ex-back" (now front) table stays in place crosswise almost all the time. We never used the table between the two front seats and with it behind the seats, you can drape raincoats over it for drying while you drive, etc.
This is a great setup! As you suggest, there's lots of room underneath for a cooler, fridge, or whatever.
I guess what I'm getting at--relative to your query, Joe, is that if you get a rear table, it mounts quite nicely with the standard, "behind the driver's seat" bracket location. You get a longer counter than you would with a front table and it's closer to the stove/sink area since it's mounted on the driver's corner.

in all our old passenger vans we would install a swivel base and table to every front pass pedestal..
really opens up the usefulness of the van.. should have been dealer options at least.. |

Thanks for both replies - looks like I'm shopping for a front mount, front leg & rear brown table to mount on my passenger pedestal this spring. Will probably shell out the money for GW's jack point table stand as well rather than rigging one up myself.
Best regards,

spring for a front swivel base too, very handy when the weather isn't.
make sure you get all (3) pieces, the baseplate is welded into the donor, and into yours as well. |

Dan -
A pass swivel is on the list. My fridge is just the right height for a footrest. I'll spring for a bolt-in if I can't find a clean replacement from a donor. That'll give us seating for five + the driver seat for piling crap. |
