Ok what would you guys do??
Not vw related but I sold a part to a guy.. It was 63$ shipped I asked if he wanted insurance and tracking and said it would be extra...he declined the insurance and chose tracking and I added it on.. He paid via paypal and my wife shipped it out. About 2 week go by and I get an email statin he hasn't got the part.. So I email him the tracking again and I take alook myself.. USPS says the package is in Pennsylvania???? It should be in Texas... I call and get the standard run around.. Long of the short is that USPS lost the package and they have no clue.. Guy is now stating he wants a refund.. It's not a part I can ship a duplicate of.. Am I wrong in feeling that I don't want to refundthe 63$.. I offered insurance and it was declined... I can't send him parts I don't have.. He feels that I am 100% responsible for this I tried to suggest that he look and see if I have other parts he would like of the same value or that maybe we split the refund... Dosent seem like hes interested.. It's past the 45 day PayPal period.. So I could just say hell with it but I don't want bad rap an I'd like to make the guy happy... Idk what would u guys do? I have a feeling I'm gonna get a lot of pay the guy responses but.. I feel like he declined the insurance so he rolled the dice... Sorry it was so long and thanks for reading... |

| Ya, you're going to pay the guy. Sucks but it happens. I had someone buy a gas tank off me, then go on vacation without informing me not to send it or ups to hold onto it. Ended up eating the shipping and the cost of the tank after pay"pal" was done with me. I just bought a headlight that was damaged in shipping, swear they played soccer with the box. The seller is a great guy, just put his trust in someone else to send a package. Even though insurace was placed on the headlight (200 dollar light) the post office is placing the blame on the shipper. I got @#%& because now I'm out my daily while they work it out. They don't take kindly to riding a motorcycle without a headlight in these parts. Its the world we live in my borther. |

| Yea injust wish I could show the post office the PayPal invoice and have them pay because they lost it.. I have proof I sent it he has proof he paid me for it.. And the tracking is proof that USPS lost the fuckim thing.. It's 2 sets of early bus wiper arms.. The guy that bought em really needs em.. I spent 1.5 hrs looking iny shop for some I gave him the last spares I had.. An then USPS lost em and has the balls to tell me face to face that they have insurance plans that cover loss or damage.. Gimmi a break.. I have proof of what he paid think USPS will foot the bill? Haven't tried that yet.. |

| Buyers responsibility. If he declined insurance then he's out the money. Tell him to take it up with the shipper. You don't owe him anything. |

I absolutely agree. Once it was in the hands of the shipper your responsibility ended right there. He'll probably file a claim with paypal but as long as you have proof you shipped it I say he's shit outta luck. |

Exactly, one thing you could do when you sell stuff is just to automatically include insurance and tracking with the shipping |

| FEDEX Ground...... $100 automatic insurance AND a tracking number and alot of the time CHEAPER than usps or ups. if you open an account it can save you an additional 8-15% each shipment varying by how much you ship through them. i've been using them almost exclusively for several years now and have yet to have a lost or damaged package...ken.... |

Do you know what the USPS minimum value is on a package?
UPS and FedEx both have a minimum $100 value. So if a $64 package didn't have any additional insurance it's still covered if they loose it or if it gets damaged in transit.
I don't know what the USPS has int he way of minimum value if anything, but it may be worth checking out. |

FedEx is not cheaper than USPS unless the parcel weighs 10lbs or more. The prices for both were well within $1-$3 in the last year. |

I dont want to part with the 63 bucks as i honesty feel i am not responsible for this but i also know exactly how my customer feels.. I have had this happen to me.. I ship alot and i feel that the major shippers usps ups fed ex ya ya ya... I think there getting really sloppy the last couple years.. I have had more fuck ups and lost packages then id like to remember.. I know shit happens and lost packages are part of life, but i think its getting outa wac...My customer in his emails is lending to the fact that i need to do whats right to correct this situation.. and i am but im not refunding the 63 dollars thats for sure... I offered "store credit" so to speak and hinted toward a 50 50 split sorta thing and didnt get a warm response.. He is being very nice and hes not demanding anythng.. Honestly i wish i had 4 more wiper arms id already have em in the mail...

anybody got 4 early bus wiper arms they wanna sell at a reasonable price and drop ship for me?? You're not going to have a choice on it. You accepted payment with PayPal. All he has to do is file a complaint with PayPal saying he never received the package. PayPal will look at the tracking info and say something about it not going to him and will automatically take the money from your account and transfer it back to him. PayPal sides with buyers on 98% of disputes. I have been selling on eBay for 14 years, using PayPal since it started up, and as a seller, have never had a complaint judged my way. Sellers have always got the money back. |

I'll bet I know where your part went.
I once shipped a part to a customer in East Texas, Pennsylvania (18046) and the package ended up in Texas. |

I also had usps loose stuff this year prioriy mail that went around the states for 3 weeks to be deleavered back to him the tracking said it was attempted delevery to me on the fth day, then on the 8 or so day that changed to the day it was sent out, then back & fourth between alabama&fl.& the next package from him went from bham alabama to michagain then down to me.7 days. what is tracking for if they cant use it to find the package or get it to where it is supposed to go??? effing crappy to run a lost&found&lost again box |

it's .50 cents per 100 hundred dollars of declared value when I ship from my employer. Well worth the cost of a dollar.

I laughed and said are you serious.. Yea hi can u look for the lost fuckimg package that is lost and 1500 miles from where it should be? It's lost you moron.. If it were sitting in a shelf with a ship to address in Texas they'd probably send it on its way... So I'm at a point where i say fuck it an get the bad feedback or I say fuck it and refund him...

Shit i sent a set of early pop out to a customer packed the shit out of em... Insured for 500$ sent em on there way USPS of course had fragile stickers all over.. And they broke em.. Customer took pics and sent them back to me in a Rubbermaid tote I took them to post office with my claim and proof of what there worth and what my customer paid.. And they denied em saying they broke due to poor packaging.. 100% denial of claim... Insurance is such a joke all te way around... It pisses me off and what else pisses me off is that everytime j go to the PO there is a line and there are 2 monotone worthless mouth breathers tryin to help customers while 4-5 others stand in the back in plain sight of the chaos that is unfolding and they don't bother to try to take other customers.. Lazy ass federal employees just collecting a check...almost as frustrating as a trip to DMV when I lived in las vegas |

The mistake was sending you back the parts in the rubbermaid. They should have contacted you, and you contact the post office. They would have sent someone to inspect the ORIGINAL packaging, and delt with it from there.
I have had no problems getting claims paid by USPS, UPS, or FED EX
I have also worked in a FedEx sorting facility. Peoplethat package things and put fragile stickers all over are generally retarded, and pack as if something will be on one truck and hand delivered. It simply isnt the case
Point being, follow the instructions and claims are much easier to deal with
In this case, it sucks for the guy needing the wipers. $1 could have made the differance. I honestly just pay it up when I ship |
