Hey,
Have a couple of dumb questions about the weber 40idf dual carb kit...
Are the intake manifolds supposed to be identical or mirror each other, so the carbs are level towards the rear of the engine? They appear to be offset, so when mounted on the engine, one carb would be further back than the other this way, is that correct? I've tried looking at some photos in the gallery but it's too hard to tell.
The instructions that come with the kit don't have many helpful or detailed drawings/photos, but the throttle levers they show are different than what is on the carbs already (looks like some others are included in the parts bags). Do I need to swap what came installed on the carbs for what is in the one diagram that I see?
Also, should I swap the idle and other adjustment screws to the other side of the carb, so that both of them are on the rear side of the engine? Or just leave them alone? A crappy photo of where I'm at and what I have for reference:
Are there any threads or photos that might make assembly easier for me? I have searched all I can and found plenty of info regarding setting up and tuning these carbs, but nothing about the actual installation.
Edit: Here is a photo of the kit from the website:

actually the offset manifolds will make the carbs even, if you look at the engine you will notice that one set of cylinders is offset from the other side

from what I understand all webers come with right hand throttle, one of the carbs will need to be switched to a left hand throttle

not sure what your saying, when installed all the adjustment screws will face outward-some will make a window in the body of the car so they can reach the adjustment screws; you may need to rejet depending on your application, but that doesn't mean you need to move anything

hope that helps a little

IF you need to get a opposing throttle arm (believer it actually be the left side)....
CB Performance WEB LINK...
http://cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=551
or...
But if its a "new carb kit" the throttle arms should not be a issue....
IF you really want to do it right get ... "Weber Technical Manual" by Bob Tomlinson, published by CB Performance Tech Dept...

Thank you. Yes, those parts are among the pieces in my kit. So on one side, I need to move the spring and shaft and all that to the outward side of the carb (facing me when I look at the engine bay)?
What's the order that those pieces of the shaft go on? |

you really should get "Weber Technical Manual" by Bob Tomlinson, CB performance should have it
It will answer all your questions and help you with tuning issues down the road
as for arrangment-look at the carb(on the left I believe) and note the arrangment of parts there- what you will be doing is reversing those parts but because the bends in the arms are different you will simply replace the current arms with the ones provided |

Herei is exploded view of right hand side of 40IDF.... It shows both left and right configuration of parts (throttle levers) .. You have to make correct choice to modify left hand carb to match lefthand configuration (basically add part #17, righ hand carb should already have part #43 in place) .... Basically both operational throttle levers will face the rear and left hand arm rotates in clock wise direction and right hand carb rotates in counter clockwise direction.... Believe you also have to move left hand "Idle speed screw" ( #25 & #26) to rear so it contacts the throtle arm... Those should be only three parts you have to change out....
