So I understand I'd loose my e-brake location but..
To run the shift rod above the tunnel
could I just buy a box :
http://vwparts.aircooled.net/Shifter-Mount-Box-Buggy-or-Sandrail-p/5503.htm
bushing to support the shift rod:
http://vwparts.aircooled.net/Urethane-Shift-Box-Bushing-p/5506.htm
Figured i'd use this coupler. hear it's better than square one:
http://vwparts.aircooled.net/Shift-Coupler-1946-64-Type-1-1950-67-Type-2-p/111-711-175b.htm
and this adjuster:
http://vwparts.aircooled.net/Shift-Rod-Adjuster-Kit-p/5528.htm
With those parts could I just move my shift rod above the tunnel? Bolt on my shifter and everything? I don't see why not... That way I could easily get a 002 to work.. This way I could just use a stock coupler and no funny angles or silly adapters..

| Oh come on now - taking short cuts already  Just remember, you will be letting more noise and cold air in by going this route. Plus by tilting the trans, you get more ground clearance. Lets do it the right way and put the nose of the trans where it belongs - in the tunnel :) |
