Who lived by a stream. Smoked pot all day, and lived in his van. It did not run very well said he.....but the view was good. Built a small deck to sit on, and live the days through.....till the spring freshlets brought an end to this dream, and now nature shall have her way.....soon to depart as the trees grow skyward the van now only shall be a work of art......

Anybody dissing any year air-cooled Volkswagen is not on board. They are all excellent cars with "different" details that appeal to "different" tastes. Too bad they are getting picked off, one by one.
The '72 bus is a great car, just as fun to drive as any other baywindow bus.

It's up in Liberty, ME. Looks like it was backed into the lot to the high point and left as a camp. It's located right next to the river and really is a pretty spot.....but subject to spring floods.
I assume it had a wooden deck as there are a couple old cement blocks and remnants of some rotted wood.
I'm always looking in the woods up here for old jeeps, but seem to find these more often. I actually saw I think a split window in a field as well. A month ago....up near Cambridge ME. |

Never driven another year of bay to know how great it must be, but I will say the wiper switch is on the dash in a 72. |

That is what I hear, "you can't beat fuel injection".
I'm putting together my 72 914 type 4 motor as the original 1.7 with djet. Once that's going, I'm torn between going, in my bus, from dellorto drla 40's to the stock 72 system, which I have, or to put another 914 djet on that (have part of that). I'm pretty sure it would work, as the early 914 California EB Type 4 engines were the same, mostly, as those in a bus(low compression pistons), except the fuel pump, the clutch, maybe the bore of the flywheel seal(?), the dipstick, etc. I have a replacement engine that has both the dipstick options, and also another case that I've made into such. (I know... ). I don't recall seeing such an install, might be easier to just get a complete stock late bus fi system would probably be alright on my built 1.8.
I guess people are talking about stock configuration of 72 bus when they dis it. I have a 77 westy interior in mine now, too. Anyway, thread hijacking,... That bus looks not too bad from here. :) |

I'm on the wrong side of the US, but I would pull that ASAP.
At least only mother nature has molested it.
Bet you'll find some of mother natures "best" in a baggie too... :D |
