Good Morning. I solved my "spark" issues.. Thx!
i purchased a new fuel pump to replace the leaking original fuel pump.
after bolting the new F.pump on it did not function.
there is a .5" "riser" plate the old F. pump sat on top of...
My Question: can i remove the Metal riser to have the "Push Rod" finally engage with the New Fuel Pump?? |

Karl, did you replace a "generator only" fuel pump with one that is used with the both generator and alternator equipped Type1 engines?
If so, you'll need to buy the longer fuel pump push rod that goes with the alternator version.

| Or you've got the lines on backwards, tell us more about this "riser plate". |

| Your riser plate is the guide for the pushrod, no you can not remove it. |

The inlet and outlet were reversed when I replaced the OG fuel pump with one made in Brazil.

I think the shorter pushrod goes with the 'angled' alternator pump. The wrong mix of rod and pump will either not pump or the rod will destroy the pump, depending on the combo. Could be just air in the system from the new pump? OR as previously mentioned, the hoses could be the wrong way round |
