I have a 74 SB I am working on. I am wondering if anyone has any experience rebuilding/refurbishing the Fresh Air Fan behind the dash? Or any good sources?
Thanks,
Matt |

| Not sure about this on yours but on mine the fresh air fan is actually accessible from the trunk. On mine there is a panel that unscrews to reveal the fan motor (as well as the wiper motor) which can then be removed. The flaps to control the fresh air flow to the defroster or to the interior are accessible through the dash panel. You can start by pulling out the radio. Otherwise the whole dash has to come off. Bentley's manual shows you how. |

| I have a 74SB, and the fan is inside the compartment in the trunk as well. I have the fan out, and am looking for information on how to rebuild/refurbish the fan. |

| Oh, sorry, I misinterpreted your question. Don't know about rebuilding. How about looking for one from a junkyard? |

No problem, hopefully I did not come across as too cranky.
Going after one from a junkyard is also something I may try, I just would love to _fix something, rather than replace something, Thats all! |

| A new motor is NA and I've never seen a kit to rebuild them. Used is the only option at this time. |

Well, I always have thought that 'impossible' was just a higher level of difficult. I might give it a try, just for the fun of it.
Maybe it just needs cleaning up, brushes, commutator & such. I don't think I will go to the point of rebuilding the windings.
Just got to give it a try, before I look for another used. |

but they did clean it up and got it working again. |
