I just noticed that my '73 Thing is missing the " ____ " in the rear driver's side suspension.

On the passerger's side there is a bolt and two pieces of flat rubber, which don't seem stock.

What goes there?
How do I get one?
or do I just get a bolt and cut-up a floor mat?

And no, my car is not caked in volcanic mud, the PO covered it up in multiple layers of rustproofing

Yes the bolt and rubber are stock and its just missing in the photo.

Not sure if the bolt is anything special - I don't think it is.

I had wondered if these pads were missing from the Thing show in the 74 Thing questions thread and if that is why the front of the casting is busted off.

I know mine are smashed awfully flat and are on the replacement list.

The bolt is a special shouldered bolt.

Do you know if the shouldered bolts are hardware store items or is it something I am going to have to find from a donor car?

The bolt is a 10 mm but with a 15mm head. Not a shoulder bolt, it has a metal bushing. If you are not concerned with orginal you can get a bolt with an allen head. A standard bolt has a 17mm head and you cannot get a wrench on.
