my uncle owns a 1302 with the macpherson strut front suspension. he wants to convert it to the ball joint style and i was wondering what would be require to do this. would he have to get an older style front quarters and apron and everything, then weld it all together, or will it fit right under the super style front? a quick response would be cool, cause he's got a lead on a great balljoint pan. thanks for any help.

Cody;

I wouldn't bother. It would, at best, be an ENORMOUS amount of work. And when you got done you'd basically have a "standard" beetle.

If it was me I'd leave the Super a Super, and just buy and drive the other one. On the other hand, some of the parts (from the doors back) might interchange, depending on the year.

what he really wants is the front suspension and i thought that would require getting a standard front end(windsheild forward) and swap them. Any way that would be alot of work, and me and my dad would probably end up doing most of it, and i don't want to. thanks
