| its my 91 2.1 i added a vdo psi gauge kit with 4 way port so you use the oem sender, but the light keeps flashing even with two new senders. i even swaped the instrument cluster that was working normal and still it flashes. ok so when its cold the psi gauge reads 60-70 psi as it warms abou 15-20 miles the lght acts like it wants to go out, but if i does go out the slightest pressure to the gas pedal, the lights back flashing :? i'm using mann filters and 10w40 changed oil and used a napa gold. |

Is the 4 way port connected by a hard line or flexible one?
How far from the case is the sender now?
Tencent uses a very precisely bent copper line to his relocated senders and I measured the pressure at both locations and they were spot on.
Well worth the $45 he charges for the setup. |

I have a reuilt 2.1 and experience the flickering oil light at idle after a highway run (steady 3200 rpm). The shop checked the idle pressure while hot, OK, and replaced the sender; no change.
I saw a post about how the original owner's manual said this is normal, so I stopped worrying about it.
When I did my last oil change I went to 20x50 and a Napa Gold. So far, no light. I really believe that 10 weight is just too thin, period. Many folks I see use the diesel oil; 15x40. That seems like a nice compromise. |

| 2.1 engines have two different style of senders, one normal open and one normal closed. Sure you don't have the wrong style on there? |

What does the light do when it acts like it's going out?...Is it on at idle? Above 2300rpm? What does your gauge say hot?

If you have good oil pressure on your gauge now, I don't see how running thicker oil will do you any good. 10 psi per 1000 rpms on a fully warmed up engine is a good rule. |

| the problem is as it warms up, the psi is only reading 10-20 psi. where is the info on the pressure relief valve in the bentley book :?: i might swap out the spring but can find it in the book. |

When you first turn the key on but don't start your engine what is the light doing?
You are only getting 10-20 psi at what rpm? |

| it blinks on for a quick second, and the psi was 20 at 3000 rpms. i changed the oil to 20-50 and its like 30 psi at 3000. |
