As many of you know, I lost my 66 Bug to a fire 3 weeks ago. Hagerty insurance took care of me very quickly. This past Friday I purchased a replacement Bug from a fellow Samba member(Timinator). I drove 375 miles south and trailered "Sandy" home. Obviously I will be switching forums but I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Here are a few pictures........

Sorry to see you go over to the fat chick forums, but it looks like you got a really car to play with!
Glad to see things worked out as well as they did for you and I hope you have better luck with this one! |

145's on the front, 165's on the rear. CB Performance 2" narrowed beam with drop spindles. The PO's attention to detail is amazing. The engine build is absolutely solid. I have a few things to address but nothing major. just small things to keep me occupied. The first thing to add is a fire extinguisher...TODAY!!!
Thanks for all the compliments.......even the "fat chick" comment. Hell, they all need lovin'!! :D |

I was also going to make a fat chick comment but I'll refrain. :D
It is a really nice looking car and I'm glad you're happy. You deserve it after what you went through. Congratulations! |

Thank you! In my opinion, if someone can't appreciate the PO's eye for detail on this Bug, I would argue they aren't a true aircooled VW fan. This car also came with a Dec. 2010 issue of Hot VW's that has a full page dedicated to this car in the "Reader's Showcase" section.
Thank you for all of the kind comments. I know it takes a lot coming from the strong following of the early VW's.
I'm just happy to back rollin' in a V-Dub! |

| I understand the changes made with the 70 and later Bugs but The only differences between my 66, my previous 67 and this 68 is a small padded dash, different cut-outs for the bumper mounts and larger tail lights. Of course there is a upgraded vent system behind the dash and the deck lid is different. But, it seems to me that the core of the vehicle is the same as far as body and fenders, front and rear aprons. Maybe I'm mistaken but none the less, I REALLY like this Bug I found. Plus I met a great fellow Samba member in the process. The PO was very up front about everything and provided me with everything I asked for including walk around videos, documents to support the restoration and high resolution pictures to help me make a decision from 6hrs away. This VW community is one of the main reasons I will always have a VW of some sort in my garage. |

I think it looks sweet!! I love the color, it's lowered a little and has the right "look" to it. Not overly done, but just right. The only thing I would do is put Gas in it and roll!! 8)
Have fun with your new wheels!! -Louie |

| Nice looking car, Maddog! My first VW was a '68. They're actually a very cool year to have, and yours looks cherry! Better watch for those steep driveways with that front end clearance! :) |
