I am installing a type III transmission from a 67 into a type 1.
Everything goes together fine except that the connection between the shifting linkage and the transmission is different. On a type one there is a hole for a set screw on the top of this shaft that holds the linkage connection. You get to this by removing the plate under the back seat. On the type III tranny the set screw hole is on the bottom....
Question is did I install something backwards or do you get to this connection from the bottom on a type III?
and if this is so how can I correct this....drill a new hole?
Thanks. |

Yes, you access the shifter coupling from the bottom on a Type 3.
You can drill a hole from the top to make it work. Make sure you drill it in the right place. :) |

off volks's question, but can i ask. my wiring in my 71 square is a bit jumbled and at the rear i have only enough wires for the rear brake and indicator lights, not reversing lights. i heard somewhere that there is a switch on the transmission? is that easy to find? cus so far i havent seen it. if it is findable, how easy is it to get my reversing lights to work again?
thanks jonno |

| You have to jack it up. I believe it starts from the coil with an inline fuse runs to the switch then from the switch to the back up lights. It does not matter where you plug the wires on the switch. 8) |

| One wire comes from the + side of the coil, has a fuse holder in the engine compartment and goes to either side of the reverse switch on the side of the transaxle. The other wire goes from the other connector on the reverse switch to the reverse lights. The backup lights provide the ground through the light housing to the bumper. |
