I finished my 64 $200 Sun Roof Project and always wanted a convertible so here it is.. I'm going to go full custom on this one.. Subaru engine and all..
This one I'm doing everything myself, paint and all.. Figured I'd go Subaru engine, IRS transmission. Make my own floor boards (new bead roller). Haven't decided too much as far as color goes.. I'm waiting for it, it's on a transport from Colorado. I'll post everything as I go.. . |

| Looks to be a very early 1960 because of the wood main bow. Have fun, and keep us updated. And Welcome to the weird & wonderful world of the 1960 VW |

I bought the sandblast cabinet from you. I saw the other car and person and WOW it was nice. Looking forward to seeing how this one comes together!!
Keep us updated! I know what it is like to wait for a delivery (I got my 59 DC delivered after about 3 months of waiting-long story)!! |

If you're going to convert to IRS have you thought about using the 5 speed subi trans? |

| From what I've read, it's not a simple drop in application with the Subaru trannys.. I'd have make it go the opposite way.. Seems like too much of a head ache to even try. ](*,) |

First area of attack is the luggage area...
Got a "new" section and took all of the seam sealer off to expose the spot welds. Going to try to get it as perfect as possible..

| Been a little sidetracked with other things. Haven't been able to dedicate too much time to this. I was able to reinforce the body and get the doors to line up. I got new hood, deck lid and front fenders. They are at the powder coater getting sandblasted and coated with primer. I'll post some pictures in a little while. |

So I was going to convert my swing axle to IRS, easier said than done. So I'm gonna scrap that idea and just go with an IRS pan.
I got an IRS pan for pretty cheap, $100. I knew that I wanted to bag this bug but I also knew that I didn't want to pay full price for the kit so. I had some scrap metal, a welder and access to the internet. I found a bunch of picture of how to do it here is what I have... I found a set of bags for about $80, a pump for $50 and the round bag plate for $15. So far $145.
Here we are, a lot of test fitting but promising.
