Hi,
For the restoration of my '61 Beetle I've to replace the fender beading.
The body colour is L391.

L391 fender beading seems to be unavailable.

In your opinion is it better to use the L380 fender beading or repaint the black one with the right colour?

Thank You

Ale

The colors in looking at Wolfsburg charts are close and if you can get the beading in the 380 color, do so. Better than doing the correct painting on black.

As much as I hate to recommend them, Mid America is selling colored fender beading as well as running board vinyl.

I purchased the Wolfsburg West coloured running board mats and have been very happy with their durability. Almost ten years on my Beetle and they still look very good.

I tried some coloured aftermarket beading and was not happy...too flimsy and stretchy. I found some good NOS beading that cleaned up nicely, and threw away the aftermarket stuff.

One thing to remember, the fender beading does not need to be an exact match, to look good, IMO. So, to the original poster, using another blue could look quite good...certainly better than black.
