Hi everyone, I'm on so many forums, more than I can count on my hands. I thought I would now copy and paste my thread from another forums to this one as it has a much wider audience.

Plus Ive been on here since 2005 and not started a thread!

Ive had this van since the end of Jan 2012.

Let the copy and pasting begin....

So tonight I went to check out the 66 sliding door panel I've had lined up for a few weeks.

Gave the thumbs up to the sale and left a deposit.

It's a 66' RHD panel thats had some mild surgery in its time. 70% of the roof and a big section of the long non door side has been swapped as it was a Donna kebab van in Cyprus! With a make shift wooden hatch.

It has factory fitted safaris what are super cool

A lot of history can with the van, and about 50 photos of how it got to the state it's in now. Which is a solid rolling project.

The van was taken off the road in 1992 in Cyprus due to. It sat around for a long while. Made roadworthy in 2006. Imported to the uk in 2008. Mot'd and registered in 2009. Sat in a garage for 3 years then I bought it tonight.

That's the story in a nutshell.

Some pics of it then and now...

First things on my to do list is sourcing a new bulkhead to fix the DIY walk through. And theirs some issues with the sliding door. It needs some lows. Then stick it in for the mot.

Should fly through as the underneath is superb. I'll just have to check all the electrics first.

I'm also looking in to putting windows in it. But I carnt seam to find much info about it.

So the panel van is now in my workshop. Picked it up today.

Soooo happy. It's so clean underneath! Its aged a little from the last few pics (5 years or so later)

Had a few mins spare today so I stripped the headlights and gave them a quick lick of paint.

And cleaned the green moldy glass.

The poor quality pics above are a few years old. These where some snaps that where taken when it had all the work done in Cyprus before it came to the uk.

A bad sliding door was fitted after all the work was done. That's why it's all rusty and not as good as the rest.

Started blending in the rear panel that was all patchy.
Sprayed the bumpers white too..

Also fitted new plugs, leads, coil, air filter, leads, dashboard nobs, door handles, red lapbelts, cap, condenser, fresh pressed number plates,

Fixed both front doors. Both lock and shut now.

Soon as I sort the starter motor out I'll whip it in for an mot and have a proper to do list!

The sliding door is all fixed now. Shuts a treat. Machined a new inside latch and new rivits so it's not all slopy. Im missing some parts tho. more on that later....

Fitting the glass in the quarter is gonna be a pain...

robhnz Mon May 21, 2012 2:30 pm

It was the Volksworld show this weekend so I took a wedge of cash and came back with a big bag of bits, including new wheels and some quarterlights. I gave up after 10 mins of trying to put glass in the old frames...

Homemade kick panels, making some door cards tomorrow.

I'm after truck mirrors an a hurst bumper next.

That should help it look mean!

I've still got to paint some sign writing on it and sand it back a bit.

robhnz Mon May 21, 2012 2:34 pm

Sprayed the door and blended it in, cleaned up the window frame too and fitted both new quarter windows.

Better wheel fitted, makes the cab area loads nicer!

robhnz Mon May 21, 2012 2:36 pm

New parts bought...

Nos hella rear lights
Steering wheel bearing kit
Beige lap belts
Battery strap

Ive gave up on the IRS route and have just sold it, didnt loose nay money on it so im ok with that.

It's getting picked up Friday to have some work done at balls'd

Straight axle conversion with a freshly painted box. Brand new straight axle kit and the full works of new type 3 brakes drums etc.

Adjusters welded in the front beam, to add to the dropped spindles.

Plus an MOT.

Then the chrome radars can be bolted on.

Hopefully it's gonna look sweet slammed.
