It's not a bug, it's designed that way.

berkeleyjack Tue May 22, 2012 2:57 pm

Why?

Glenn Tue May 22, 2012 2:58 pm

berkeleyjack wrote: Why?
Because when a moderator need to PM a user, we don't want it blocked.

Thanks for the explanation.
You may be kind of rude, but at least you're informative!

Sorry about calling you a "dickweed" before. :(

thanks... let's move on.

Yes, you cannot add a moderator to your ignore list so that no one can miss messages from the moderators.

Also PMs, if you need to be contacted by a moderator via PM.

P.S. As a moderator, I removed some of the BS in this thread.

Wow, this is now a pleasant read.

But, and it is a big one, Glenn thrives on such abuse!

Now he is depraved (sic.)

:)

funny, this morning I was looking for a thread about this topic, and here it is, another Vanagon/Eurovan user posting about it. I have never had an opinion about our moderator/s but in the last two or three weeks I have seen some actions that have left me very disappointed, in particular deleting two threads that did not deserve it in my eyes, of course I'm just a user of a free online forum and that is just my opinion. I feel like the rules of the forum are used by the moderator/s very arbitrarily and sometimes hurt the benefit of the online community.

yes, I guess now we can move on...

madspaniard Wed May 23, 2012 9:16 am

oh wow, pleasant surprise, I see that one of the two threads I mention above was just restored back to the forum. Thank you for allowing us to continue debating....

EverettB Wed May 23, 2012 9:19 am

If you feel something should not have been removed, feel free to contact me directly and I will review it.

Sometimes we move things back, sometimes not.

Also:
Very often people think things were removed when:
1. They were just moved to the proper section, for instance Buyer/Seller Feedback or, in the case of some recent Vanagon topics, Shows.
2. Edited down due to BS/arguing/abuse, which can cause a thread to drop back to page 2 and people think it is gone because they no longer see it near the top.

Yes, sometimes things are removed to be reviewed or cleaned up before moving them back.

If you are talking about the recent bumper thread, I have posted a moderator message in there to explain the reasoning.

DAIZEE Tue May 29, 2012 8:54 am

I understand your reasoning but why can Moderators block members? Very frustrating when things are said in the forums or in PMs and one can not reply in PM.

Why can someone who has you on Ignored send PMs to those people but those people can't reply?. This demonstrates duplicity from me. If you've blocked me, then you shouldn't be able to communicate with me (as a hypothetical situation. The blocking feature should be 100%. I've had nasty pms from people who have me blocked and what's that about?

persecution much?

DAIZEE Tue May 29, 2012 11:43 am

No persecusion. plain ordinary DUPLICITY and double standards if you don't get the meaning. But at long last, it is meaningless to me but wanted it documented. Have a better day :)

DAIZEE makes a good point.

If mods can't refrain from PM-ing people they have set to ignore, perhaps they're not mature enough to have moderating privileges. :?

Thank you.

berkeleyjack, you've barely been here a month and already telling people who have been here for years how to behave. Maybe the Samba is not for you (my personal opinion).

Some members are thin skinned and constantly complain about the stupidest things. After awhile you can get tired of explaining what you do as well as what others do. At that point they get added to the ignore list since nothing you say will ever satisfy them.

All mods are entitled to their personal opinion and can separate that from their moderating duties.

If someone added you to their ignore list, you're welcome to add them to yours.

If you find a large number of people have you on "ignore" then maybe you should reevaluate the way to communicate with people.

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying here, but are you saying that mods harass people that they have on ignore via PMs?

If so, got any evidence of that happening?
