Does anyone know if deck lid racks were ever available as an accessory for 1978 Super Beetles? Like this one (on a 69): http://www.greenchilli.org/vw_images/latest/IMG_0221.JPG
Also, does anyone know of a site that sells reproductions now? Thanks! |

That's easy. All 1978 super beetles are convertibles. They don't have the air inlets that is used to attach the rack. Which means they would not fit. A super, that is. If you could find one, it would fit a 1978 Standard. (last year for German built non-vert beetles) |

| All deck lid racks are made to fit pre 68 bugs, to fit one to A 68 and newer you need to do some custom work,, I had one on my 72 super for A little bit.. I think it would be A pain in the a$$ to fit one to A 78 vert... Now on A different note, if you dont mind drilling holes? you could find A non-VW one from A 60's-70's sports car that bolt to the deck lid :wink: |
