View original topic: Engine starts only when gas is poured into the carb...

A few weeks ago my car started good and I even drove it around the block a few times.
The other day I try to start it again and nothing, It starts for a brief moment if I pour fuel down the carb, but that is all.

I was thinking it was the fuel pump, so I replaced it. My car had been sitting for a year before I hooked everything back up earlier this year and started it. It sounded good, And like I said, a few weeks ago I started it again nicely and drove it. Now nothing. :(

clogged fuel line? i would dump all the old gas replace fuel lines and clean out the metal line. can u see gas squirt into the carb when u pump it?

That must have been the problem. I blew out the hardline only, and after a few cranks it started. I wasn't expecting that to be the problem bc it had started fine a few weeks ago. Hmmm....thanks

If blowing out the hardline did the trick, I would consider running out the fuel in the tank and then checking the filter screen in the tank. They are cheap.
