hey guys, looking for a little help... im in the process of fixing up a 60 bus and i am refreshing all the front end steering bits. when i received the inner/outer tie rod assembly i ran across the outer tie rod being larger than the inner... the bus is lowered but this was all done before i purchased it but i imagine they maybe used spindles from something else? is there a common tie rod end (other than original) used for lowered buses that i should be after; for a beetle or a bay?

already tried ordering the tie rod ends from another distributor to see if it was just a packaging error - no luck...

thanks in advance all. feels good to be back in a bus!

Usually (but not always) when a spindle is flipped, the tie rod holes are reamed out to accept Bay window tie rod ends. If you look in the 'lowered' sticky above it has more information or ask Aaron (he knows all!)

There are only two sizes of tie rod ends. If you want to be sure while ordering it as them to check that it has a 19mm nut on it. And remember to put lots of anti-seize on the threads.

Gordo.

if there is a brass bushing on the tie rod or in the spindle it could be a late bug tie rod end also
